As those who work in the frontline of transport security will know, the challenges of protecting company assets and infrastructure is a huge challenge that is only growing. Whether road, rail, maritime, or any other mode of transport, the message is stark: if you don’t adequately protect your operations, you leave yourself open to attack that can at the very least disrupt business, and at the worst bring services to their knees and even threaten public safety.
In light of this ongoing threat, we at Transport Security World have put together an infographic that paints a picture of the very great challenges facing the transport industry. As you will see from looking at the figures, the compound annual growth rate of the global transport security technology market is expected to rise by around 11% over the next three years, which clearly shows how seriously it's being taken from service providers.
Security incidents are expected to cost the world $6 trillion every year by 2021. Just think about that for a moment. That's more than 20 times that of the revenue that Apple – one of the world's biggest companies – makes in the same period. Today presents a huge opportunity to protect the transport industry against the constant threat posed by hackers, data criminals and cyber attacks.
With this in mind, we at Transport Security World are hosting our annual event, the Transport Security Congress, in Washington D.C. on May 14-15, the show that will bring together business and security leaders from all sectors of passenger and goods transportation to discuss solutions to the evolving security and safety risk landscape
